Which of the four coins should you actually use

A direct comparison of the four coins Anubis accepts, what each records, how fast each confirms and how to pick without overthinking it.

Anubis takes four coins, which is more choice than any other market of its kind offers and more choice than most buyers want. Here is the short version of how to decide.

The one question that settles it

Do you want this payment to leave a permanent public record. If the answer is no, the choice is Monero and nothing else on this page changes that. If the answer is that you do not mind, then the remaining three differ on speed, fee behaviour and what you already hold.

The comparison

CoinPublic recordFunds inFeesUse when
MoneroNone10 to 20 minLow, stablePrivacy matters, which is usually
LitecoinPermanent10 to 15 minLow, stableYou accept a public record and want speed
BitcoinPermanent20 to 60 minVariableYou already hold it and understand the trade
EthereumPermanent, account linked5 to 10 minHighly variableYou already hold it and use a dedicated address

Why the record outweighs the rest

Speed and fees are inconveniences measured in minutes and small amounts. A ledger entry cannot be edited, withdrawn or aged out, and it may become more useful to somebody reading it later as surrounding data accumulates. Every other difference between these coins fades. That one does not.

If you are choosing from scratch

Acquire Monero, hold it in a wallet you control, and stop thinking about this decision. The extra effort is one exchange or swap, and it removes the only permanent consequence in the whole transaction.

If you already hold something

Then the honest calculation is whether converting is worth the effort for this particular purchase. For a small routine order where you accept the record, paying with what you have is a defensible choice. For anything you would not want connected to you later, convert.
